Everyone's pulse was racing with their teasers for the Sesto Elemento concept weeks before the unveil in Paris, and when the full thing was finally uncovered, Lamborghini didn't disappoint one bit!
So it may not be the replacement to the Murcielago as was earlier believed, but quite impressive it truly is – especially considering that this is a concept that the Italian sportscar manufacturer is using to showcase its technical prowess.
The overall design may not be to everyone’s taste and that’s because there’s simply too much happening with an overdose of sharp creases and other design elements that look great individually but really don’t gel all that well when put together. Nonetheless, the monocoque, front frame including crash boxes, body panels, suspension components and even the wheels are made of carbon fibre and carbon fibre reinforced plastics. All that good stuff means the Sesto Elemento weighs in at just 999kg and with its 5-litre V10 churning out 570 horsepower, the 100 km/h dash is over in just about 2.5 seconds! Yes, top speed is over 300 km/h, but we’re sure you expected that already.
And another thing that you’d expect from all modern-day Lamborghinis (except if it’s a special edition named after one of their legendary test drivers), is the permanent four-wheel drive system which helps get better traction to tarmac for the Sesto Elemento. Technology showcase or not, this concept is Lamborghini’s way of discretely telling the world the design direction their future models will take – edgy, stealthy, aerodynamic, functional to the core and yet typically Lamborghini.
